Adamus in Ghana
Adamus has had a presence in Ghana since 2002 and has strived to maintain excellent relationships with local communities. Adamus remains committed to ensuring that its operations provide long term positive benefits to the various local communities where the Company conducts its exploration activities and planned mine operations.
Adamus' vision is to establish a partnership with the community through mutual respect. Identifying and assisting where possible, with basic needs of potable water, roads and education has and will continue to deliver significant benefit to the local community.
In 2006 Adamus established a Community Consultative Committee (CCC) made up of representatives of local government authorities, traditional councils, farmers and Company representatives. The mandate of the CCC is to provide an open and transparent forum for discussion and debate on issues affecting local communities. Meetings are well attended and minutes taken.
The forum has been active in matters pertaining to crop compensation, resettlement, local employment opportunities and community dialogue for the project development.
The Company has undertaken many initiatives aimed at assisting local communities including:
- provision of fresh water to Nkroful Agricultural Secondary School;
- upgrade and maintenance of roads for various villages;
- hand dug water wells and repairs to these;
- provision of school buildings and materials for buildings; and
- sporting equipment
Recent Projects
Adamus funded Anwia Methodist Junior High School

Adamus has recently funded the construction of a 2 classroom block for the pupils of Anwia Methodist Junior Highschool to enhance the teaching and learning of about 100 school children, who previously had no classroom facilities. The District Assembly and Ghana Education Services have sent their appreciation to Adamus for such a worthy investment.
In co-operation with local training institutes, Adamus has also provided training programmes in operations and skills development for nearly 100 trainee workers.
Adamus has a regional office in Accra for management and commercial activities and a site office at Nkroful for management of site activities.
Training
In collaboration with the Australian High Commission, Adamus has launched the third phase of a Youth Capacity-Building Training Programme at the Kikam Technical Institute in April 2010.
50 youth from 10 communities within the project impacted area have been sponsored to acquire technical skills in a number of trades. The programme is aimed at improving the local capacity and opportunities for employment.
Malaria
Adamus in conjunction with the Ellembelle District Health Service has embarked on a two month long malaria education programme to minimize the incidence of malaria in the project area. As part of the exercise, 250 pregnant women and nursing mothers received insecticide-treated bed nets.

Communications
Adamus has partnered with MTN, the premier mobile telecommunications company in Ghana, to deliver a 3G Network solution on the plant site. In addition to providing the Project with an initial network solution, mobile telephone communication capability has been provided to adjourning communities including the towns of Aluku, Salman and Bokro.
2010 World Cup
Adamus has part sponsored a documentary on Africa and the 2010 Football World Cup. The documentary "Standing on the Touchlines" will visit the nations that have qualified for SA 2010 including Ghana. Live crosses will be made while games are on from Africa to Northbridge Piazza in Perth.
